“Wishing Well” explores the struggle of growing up and confronting the inevitable changes that come with it. Inspired by the drastic transformations at some of my favorite places, like the Mountain View Grand Hotel, my favorite waterslide at the Anchorage Inn, and the wishing well outside the pancake house my family has gone to my entire life, the song reflects on how seemingly small losses like these can deeply affect us. They symbolize the fading simplicity and joy of youth, replaced by the complexities and anxieties of growing up. As familiar comforts start to disappear, the song captures the desire to hold on to that childlike wonder and the fear of losing oneself in the process. ‘Wishing Well’ explores the pain of letting go, the longing to return to the past, and the challenge of accepting change, while still clinging to hope and the magic of believing.
